Hi, I’m Anna!
2025 is already coming to an end.
What kind of year has it been for you?
In fact, the world of yoga has also seen many changes and new trends emerge over the past year.
In this article, I’ll introduce five yoga trends that have been making waves around the world, along with the background behind each one.
From “Wow, I didn’t know this kind of yoga existed!” moments to ideas you might want to incorporate into your own practice next year, I’m sure you’ll find something inspiring.
As you look back on the year, I hope this becomes an opportunity to reconnect with your mind and body as you step into the new year ahead.
1. Prioritizing Mental Well-Being: The Rise of Mental Health Yoga

In 2025, reflecting the increasing stress of modern life, yoga practices focused on restoring inner peace emerged as a major trend, beginning in the wellness scenes of the U.S. West Coast and spreading worldwide.
Rather than intense physical movement, more and more classes across the globe began emphasizing gentle breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, and poses designed to deeply relax both the mind and the body.
Have you ever had days when you think, “I just don’t feel clear or upbeat today”?
Of course—I feel that way too.
And it’s exactly on those days that yoga focused on the breath can gently support you.
In Anna Style’s online classes, especially during our bedtime relaxation yoga, we place great importance on creating space to release both the mind and body through deep, conscious breathing.
Next year, why not try approaching your yoga practice from a new perspective—one that honors your current mental and emotional state and meets yourself exactly where you are?
2. Technology as a Support System: The Rise of AI & Smart Yoga

In 2025, development in the health-tech fields of Germany and the Nordic countries accelerated, making it a landmark year for services that use AI (artificial intelligence), smart mirrors, and wearable devices to correct yoga poses in real time.
As a result, practicing at home has become safer and more effective, allowing for a highly personalized yoga experience tailored to each individual.
For those who think, “I’m not sure if I’m doing this correctly when I practice alone…”, we’re entering an era where technology can act as your personal trainer.
That said, what truly matters is not a “perfect pose,” but how it feels in your own body.
I also teach in-person, offline yoga classes in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and from what I see, many students feel more comfortable and reassured when they can practice yoga face-to-face—seeing expressions, hearing voices, and sharing the same space.
It’s important to find a healthy balance between the convenience of technology and the warmth of human connection.
Personally, I use AI in my everyday life too—learning Japanese through tools like Instagram and YouTube content creation.
Sometimes I even think I might be relying on it a little too much… haha.
3. Eco-Conscious Yoga: Deepening Our Connection with Nature

In countries with strong environmental awareness, such as Australia and Canada, an eco-conscious mindset has become the standard among yoga practitioners.
More and more people are choosing yoga mats and apparel made from sustainable materials like natural rubber, cork, and jute.
In addition, outdoor practices such as park yoga, as well as yoga retreats held in nature-rich locations, have gained tremendous popularity.
Practicing yoga while soaking up the sunlight and listening to the sound of the wind feels especially wonderful, doesn’t it?
Next year, it might be lovely to take your favorite eco-friendly mat and head out to a park for your practice.
That sense of becoming one with nature gently reminds us that we, too, are a part of the natural world ♪
4. Inclusive Yoga: Enjoyable for All Ages and Fitness Levels

Challenging the idea that “yoga is only for people who are flexible,” an inclusive movement aimed at making yoga accessible to everyone has been accelerating, especially in aging societies such as Japan and across Europe.
In particular, chair yoga, which can be practiced while seated, has gained strong support among seniors, people who lack confidence in their physical strength, and office workers alike.
Instead of thinking, “I’m not young anymore…” or “I’m too stiff…”, what matters most is finding a style of yoga that suits who you are right now.
At Anna Style Yoga, I’d love to continue discovering and incorporating new approaches to yoga in the coming year as well.
Ideas that allow you to fully enjoy the benefits of yoga—without putting strain on the knees or lower back—are likely to keep evolving even more in the future.
5. Fusion Yoga: Blending Yoga with Other Disciplines

Sparked by the entertainment-driven fitness industry in the United States, fusion yoga—a new style that blends yoga with dance, Pilates, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), and more—has surged in popularity.
By incorporating fitness elements into traditional yoga, fusion yoga offers the appeal of boosting physical benefits while still being fun and engaging.
If you ever find yourself thinking, “I’m starting to feel a little bored with my usual yoga,” adding a fresh stimulus might be just what you need.
At Anna Style, we offer classes like Body Make Yoga, where we gently incorporate elements of strength training into yoga to help create a toned, flexible, and beautiful body.
Since I also practice aerobics, I’ve been thinking it could be fun to bring some aerobic movements into Body Make Yoga as well ♪
Conclusion
What did you think of the yoga trends of 2025?
It’s fascinating to see how changes in our lifestyles—such as advances in technology and a growing focus on mental well-being—are reflected in the world of yoga as well.
What matters most, I believe, is not blindly following trends, but finding the style of yoga that truly suits who you are right now from the many options available.
I’m excited to continue embracing new ideas, but with so much information out there, I also feel it’s important to develop the ability to discern what truly aligns with us.
At Anna Style, I look forward to continuing to share yoga that gently and harmoniously supports your mind, body, and face in the year ahead.
I’m truly grateful that I was able to practice yoga together with all of you this year.
Wishing you a wonderful year-end, and I look forward to seeing you again next year ♪
